Registrar Welcome Address

Registry Department is the Central Administrative Arm of the University. The Registrar is the Head of the Administrative Arm of the University and Secretary to Council. All correspondents to the University are directed to the Registrar for appropriate action. Administrative activities both Academic and Non-Academic are under the Registrar. Recruitment of staff, teaching and non-teaching is the responsibility of the Registry Department under the Registrar. The Registrar is one of the signatories to all certificates issued by the University. The Registrar is also the custodian of all written and unwritten certificates of the university. The Registrar is the image maker of the University. The Registry is a major department and the central administrative arm of the University. The Department handles the day-to-day administrative functions and duties in the University. The Registrar, as the head of the Registry, is the Chief Administrative officer of the University. By virtue of this position, the Registrar is the Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation. Accordingly, by housing the secretariat of the major organs of governance in the University, the Registry is often referred to as the engine room of the University administration.

WHAT IS CUR?

  • Center for Undergraduate Research (CUR) is a Center which seeks to develop young researchers through grants from the University
  • It is a Catch Them Young approach to help promote research culture among undergraduate students in University of Abuja
  • These young researchers are mentored and guided by lecturers on how best to tap into their talents and potentials
Nature of Researches
Student researches must be:
  • Original
  • Acceptable
  • Practicable
  • Mentored

Grant process

Semester/Course System
  • Each student selects research topics or projects according to his/her interest and ability in any discipline.
  • The student picks, fill and submit Research Grant Expression of Interest form
  • If shortlisted, a mentor is allocated to student. The student writes and presents proposal for a grant award. Proposals are submitted with Budget and Research flowchart/time frame as attachments.
  • Student defends research proposal before the Consultative Committee
  • Successful proposals are presented before a panel of judges, grant sponsors from within and outside Nigeria and special guests in a research day event.
  • Grant is awarded to successful students
  • The awardee conducts the research or create an innovative project, concepts, services, and products.
  • The results/research findings are presented during CUR Research Day events, community workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Research findings are published in the bi annual Uniabuja Journal for Undergraduate Research.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • WHO is eligible?
  • All University of Abuja undergraduate students are eligible to apply for CUR Grants. However, Final Year students can only apply in the First Semester, Final Year students are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for CUR grants in the Second Semester.
